i would say that over 15 is too long but under 7 is too short. thats what i think

you should maybe make 10 minutes on each part. that seems long enough an not that short.

If one gets bored during the 'toon, it's too long. That's the only measurement I really consider to be important. If it's entertaining the whole way through, the only limit is the file size (but if you want to have a two-hour Flash, you'd better have a scene selection option).

one problem is someone who's enjoying the story and then a "right on next ep of _____________" appears, that's short...
and the other problem is someone who is really into the movie, then it keeps going till the con are in much larger number than the pros, this person will say it's too long

3 Minutes - 8 Minutes

3 is good if it's a short story with a cute little morale.
8 if it's a developed storyline.

Anything above 8 minutes usually gets corny and makes me not want to watch anymore.

What people judge an animation on, in my opinion is not about the length but how well it captures ones attention, If it is lengthy and boring no one is going to want to sit through it, if it is good but to short then pay no attention to the comments you will still have fans, who cares if they aren't satisfied with length! Do whatever makes you feel comfortable and only use feed back to help you improve not dictate how you are going to proceed in making your aniamtions. i think that 5 minutes is a good time for a flash movie, maybe 6 or 7
but i think that a good story can be done in 6 minutes

Nothing is too long. As long as the flash is entertaining (and your flashes are always entertaining), the longer the better. There's your clear answer.

Those people who say it's too long are either big picky little jerks, or the series can easily be solved by making a scene selection part of the flash. That way, if a person doesn't have time to finish it, or if he or she just wants to see a part, then such will happen and no complaints. HOPEFULLY none, to be exact, but way less than anything about legth. That way, you could delay it so it's as long as a movie in a theatre.

It depends on the type of movie you're making, mow many frames per second, and how big. Then again, I haven't completed any flash movies yet.

However, if it starts to get to 10 or 12 or more minutes, you might be good off considering breaking it in to parts, if it's not inconvenient to the story.

well i beleive a movie should be based on how good your other ones are so if you are a great flash creator you can make it really long but if you over did yourself on time then people will get to bored and if you under did yourself then people complain about it being short and it also depends on how good the episode is so with your talent i beleive you can do up to 18 minutes but try not to go under 5 unless it is a realy great flash and in final episodes you can sometimes make it even a mind blowing 30 minutes but it has to be realy good

they probaly say its too long because they want the next episode to come sooner.i think u shud make it at least 14 minutes.actually,just make it as long as u want.its all up to u on how long it is.

10 minutes is more then enough time for one part in my opinion. I guess Some people just want to see more in one episode because they like the series so much.
On the other hand, you also get the whiney people who can't sit still long enough to watch something more then 10 minutes long.

What you really have to look into is how many are for long episodes against how many are for shorter episodes.
There may be a time length that both groups enjoy, but usually that's not the case.

For the time being, I think you should just make episodes as long or as short as you want them to be. After all, it's your series...

Dude, screw what anyone says to you, and work on story. I would honestly rather spend my time watching a minute long video, so long as it had a good story, than a fifteen minute video thats story SUCKS! It is style over substance in a heart-beat. Think of it this way-would you rather have a metric ton of pillow feathers, over a pound of solid gold?

LOL, no one knows what they want! But, in all seriousness, I'd say twelve mintues is ideal. Enough to do what you want, and keep people happy.

Also, if your having a good time writing your script, KEEP GOING! Don't let something so stupidl as how long the thing is keep your inspiration down. This coming from a writer, let the story take you where it wants to go. You don't think os the story, the story just uses your own creative talent and mind to work itself into existance. Once, I had planned to write a ten page story, and it ended up being around thirty because the story practically took over me and forced me to continue!

So, in conclusion my fellow artist, you should definatley stick to style over substance, but if the story needs to add an extra minute or two, give in to it. Planned storys that you painstakingly work to keep short SUCK in comparison to a story that takes YOU, the writer, on the journey. As a fan of your work, I can say that nothing is too short or too long, I think it's about right, actually. Because yeah, before it was short when you started LoZ FSM, but it became a fantastic series to like, no matter how long or short it is. I enjoyed it a lot, and waiting for the next eps is what I like doing lol. because out of all my fav flash artists, your one who would continue what you made, and it really is admirable :)! So in closure, nothing is too long or too short, it's always just right. And as far as the length of the eps go, do what you feel is right with the eps, make it as long or short as you want! well, i think its just foolish if people say they want longer, but when they get it longer, they want it shorter. my thought is that they should be 14 mins long.
what you really should focus on is Funny jokes. like: "they work for the KFC!!" part.
that is parts you never get tired. you should make it like every episodes is something special. not 3 long episodes have the same jokes. that is why i love episode 2.1 where they get stuck in the japanese version. it's classic, its funny.
to get it simple: story longer and more funny. More jokes. more variation.

um an average short episode for TV shows are 15 minutes counting commercials...my opinion you should make episodes that are like an hour but of course that would be a ton of animationa dn crap so about 15-20 is good enough

I gotta say dude. Just go and do what YOU think is best. FFSX5 was 4 mins. FFSX6 was 15-20 mins. And yet it was TOO SHORT?! yehh...I think its how you capture attention honestly. Personal man I never thought any of them were too short or too long. A pause button would be nice though sometimes for some flashs here. It's just my opinion that no matter what you do you'll always get complients. It happens, you can't make everyone totally happy, but if there watching it and you get 4+ on your work that means it's a succes in my opinion.

you know in my opinion , a true fan shouldn't really care how long the episode is, but the fact that their is out already and they should be enjoying it. not complaining about it. but thats just my opinion
